Happy 2nd Birthday!

I want to wish a very special HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to Morgan and her sisters Marlow, Minni and Makenzie!!

Morgan was a very special addition to our family 2 years ago. While the best part about Morgan is her wonderful, loving personality; her accomplishments as my FIRST show dog still amaze me.

In her first 2 years, Morgan has earned 3 majors, 2 BOBs, 1 Group 2 placement and only needs 4pts to finish her conformation championship. She also went BOS in Sweeps at the MAWA specialty in 2008 and placed in her large 12-18 month puppy class at the 2008 Southern Specialty. She has also earned 6pts towards her AKC Field Championship and is pointed towards her ASFA Field Championship.

To make her 2nd Birthday even more special - Morgan won her Class at this years Midwest Specialty in Canfield Ohio!

Thank you Morgan for for an amazing first 2 years! I can't wait to see what the future brings!

Morgan travels to Columbia, KY

Morgan finally got to go run again!! We packed up the car and headed to Columbia, Kentucky for 3 days of AKC Lure Coursing. She had a great time - it was hot! and she was a bit out of shape but ended up finishing 3rd out of a stake of 20 on the third day of coursing. Not bad! Way to go Morgan. She earned 2 more points towards her Field Championship, bringing her total to 6 points now.
Congrats to Morgan and thanks to Mike for these great photos!

What a great finish this was! Morgan just dove head first and has a scrape on the top of her head to prove it!

Morgan goes Winners at Columbia Kennel Club show

It was a beautiful day here in Aiken, SC. While we missed spending time with good friends (unfortunately Gail and Jenny are back in NC with Chuck who is in the hospital - our thoughts are with him!), Morgan had a good time and went Winners from the Open class for another point towards her championship. Thanks to Judge Mounce.

Morgan has a great time in Atlanta

AWC Nationals 2009
Morgan attended her first AWC National event in Atlanta, GA. We had a great time. Morgan started the week out Lure coursing. She placed both Saturday (AKC- 4th place) and Sunday (ASFA - NBQ) in her large open classes. The week continued and she did a great job in the confirmation ring, making the first cut in a very large open class (59) - way to go Morgan! I am proud of you.
Overall, it was a great time. I was glad that Morgan fianally got to meet her "grandpa" Tad as well as see many other people that we hadn't seen in a while. Thank you to everyone that made my first AWC Nationals a great one!
Below are some great photos that Mike got of Morgan both on the Coursing field and in the show ring. Thanks Mike!

Morgan places in AKC lure Coursing trial

AKC Lure Coursing Trial - SHOT (Williamsburg, VA)

It was wet and cold, this seems to be the norm lately. Despite that, Morgan had a good day! She had two good runs and ended up it a 1/2 tie in the open class of 13 dogs. She had a bit of a scary spill during the run-off. After a slide, roll, another roll and another slide, she got up and finished the run good and hard and seems to be fine...thankfully!
She ended up 2nd and gained another 2 points towards her AKC Championship title!

Great job Morgan - she hadn't run in several months and I was glad to see her come out and run hard. We have another day of running tomorrow, hopefully it will be successful as well, but we will be happy if she has fun and runs safe.

Handling class

Morgan and I had a great time this weekend. I decided to attend a handling seminar by George Alston. I learned a lot and hope that I can remember everything he suggested. At the end of the class, we had a competition and not only did Morgan and I win our class, we ended up going best handler in the class. It was a lot of fun and I highly recommend the class to anyone interested.

Morgan Is 18 months old

Morgan was able to enjoy a wonder warm Feb. day at the beginning of the month - it was in the 70's and we were able to get a few new photos of her.
It is hard to believe she is already 18 months old!!
A few days after these photos were taken, she blessed me with the joy of coming into season - what FUN! for me. At least now is a good time as not much else is going on right now. In my opinion she is as beautiful as every!
